### 1. Location
- The stomach is a J-shaped organ located in the upper left part of the abdominal cavity, just below the diaphragm.

### 2. Parts of the Stomach
- **Cardia**: The area where the esophagus connects to the stomach. It serves as the entryway for food.
- **Fundus**: The upper curved part of the stomach.

- **Antrum**: The lower portion of the stomach, which grinds up food and mixes it with digestive juices.
- **Pylorus**: The funnel-shaped part that connects the stomach to the small intestine.

### 3. Layers of the Stomach Wall
- **Mucosa**: The innermost layer, which secretes digestive enzymes and acids.
- **Submucosa**: A layer of connective tissue that contains blood vessels, nerves, and glands.
- **Muscularis**: A thick layer of muscle that helps in mixing and churning food.
- **Serosa**: The outermost layer, which covers and protects the stomach.

### 4. Functions
- **Digestion**: The stomach breaks down food into a semi-liquid form called chyme using stomach acids and enzymes.
- **Storage**: Temporarily stores food and controls its release into the small intestine.
- **Absorption**: Although minimal, the stomach absorbs some substances like alcohol and certain medications.
